PSE Bull Run 2018 race report and experience

And just like that, my first running event for 2018 happened last Sunday at the PSE Bull Run 2018. The event was held at the Bonifacio Global City, which I prefer more than the SM Mall of Asia Grounds. I joined the 25K category which according to Eric, the eruption, had a total of 350 participants.

The gun start was supposedly at 4:00 am for our wave but due to so many formalities, the start was delayed for 5 mins. It wasn’t a big deal though. The weather up until 7 or 8 am on that day was still cool, so I’m pretty sure the runners enjoyed the run.

The race route went all the way to Makati with the first turn-around just a few meters away from the PNR. Then it’s a long way back to BGC for the second time at the Kalayaan flyover. Back at BGC, runners went to the McKinley West area before going out Lawton avenue and turning left to Bayani road. Now since this is a 25KM distance, the usual U-turn at Bayani road had to be extended all the way to C5, passing Heritage Park. The dreaded u-turn was located near the residential area along C5. So runners had to endure the stench of garbage as well as vehicle smoke just to reach the u-turn.

Then it’s a long way back again to the finish line. The good thing was, Runrio, the run coordinator knows where exactly to put the hydration station. And they also made sure that ample supply of water and gatorades were evenly distributed among the stations. There were also two banana stations which really helped me and I’m sure the other runners who were already hungry.

Overall, it was a successful running event. I would have to give props to PSE and Runrio for the well organized event. I’m looking forward to next year’s bull run which I hope will still be held in BGC.

For those who joined the PSE Bull Run 2018, results are already from Runrio. (1278)
