The news is out and there are mixed reactions about it. I’m referring to the Condura Skyway Marathon 2014 which many Pinoy runners have been waiting for. The organisers of the Condura Skyway Marathon 2014 has cancelled the event and instead will be pushing the next CSM in 2015 instead.
The reason? Well, the organiser deemed it appropriate to cancel this much awaited running event due to the recent catastrophe that hit our fellow Filipinos in the Visayan recent, particularly Tacloban. According to the organisers, they will just used the funds for the CSM 2014 to help the victims of Yolanda typhoon.
As such, the next CSM will be the Condura Skyway Marathon 2015. Of course, there are mixed reactions about the Condura Skyway Marathon cancellation. Some understand the organisers decision while other are clamoring for a reconsideration and even suggested to turn the CSM into a charity run – to help the Yolanda victims.
We’ll see whether the CSM organisers will listen to the clamor of some Pinoy runners to push through with the race. In the meantime, for those of you who’ve trained for CSM you might want to consider joining the Subic International Marathon 2014 instead. This will be held on January 26, 2014.
As for me, well I already signed up for the 7-11 Run 1000 on January 19, so there’s no way I can join the SIM 2014. I’ll probably wait for the next interesting marathon event sometime in March or perhaps wait up until July 2014 for the 38th Milo Marathon.
So, what can you say about the cancellation of the Condura Skyway Marathon 2014? Are you happy about it? Share your thoughts by leaving a comment below. (1781)
